I recently returned from Uganda with UNHCR. @Refugees around the world walk 1 billion miles every year to reach safety. I walked with them in solidarity during my trip to see UNHCR’s eye-opening work. It was so inspiring to see how communities there continue to welcome people in need into the country. But there is so much more that must be done. Here in the reception centre at Nakivale settlement, women and children sleep on mats on the floor in one big room, for up to 3months before their place in the settlement is decided. Hot, dark and over-crowded I took in the space and tried to imagine sleeping here night after night. With an underfunded crisis like this one where many are struggling to survive, I am driven with my own sense of purpose to do more. You can help too.
